All of our international shipments are covered by valid CMR insurance to protect our customers' cargo from unforeseen events such as:

  • Damage to or destruction of cargo in a traffic accident
  • Loss of cargo as a result of theft or robbery
  • Delivery to the wrong address or under unsuitable conditions

Although CMR insurance is not compulsory, our company always applies it as it is the standard for a responsible and safety conscious transport company.

What is the difference between CMR insurance and additional cargo insurance?

The most important difference is the amount of compensation.

  • CMR insurance covers the value of the cargo only up to a certain limit, which is calculated in SDR (Special Drawing Rights) in accordance with an international agreement. This means that the value of expensive cargo can only be partially compensated.
  • Supplementary cargo insurance provides full protection - it covers the same risks as CMR insurance (accidents, theft, damage), but the indemnity corresponds to the full actual value of the cargo.

Therefore, not all cargo needs to be additionally insured - this is only necessary when the value of the cargo exceeds the CMR insurance limits. This is particularly important for those transporting more expensive goods, equipment or sensitive products.
